Wellness Program Promotes Weight Management

Extra weight means extra wear and tear on your joints. Studies show that obesity, or being overweight, is a strong predictor of arthritis, which forces baby boomers and seniors to alter their lifestyle because of bone on bone pain, stiffness, and debilitation. Rothman Institute’s Wellness Program can help you manage your weight while reducing the likelihood of osteoarthritis and other diseases.

Osteoarthritis affects 21 million people, and obesity is one reason why medical experts believe this number will continue to increase. According to a Johns Hopkins study, just 10 extra pounds of weight increases the force on the knee by 30 to 60 pounds each step.

The Rothman Institute Wellness Program is a physician-approved weight management program designed to help clients meet their individual nutritional goals. The focus of the program is on behavior modification and developing positive lifestyle habits, which lead to successful long-term weight management. Clients will find the support and encouragement they need in a comfortable and confidential environment.

All of the program’s practices are based on scientific research and are in accordance with the positions held by the American Dietetic Association.
