Joint Preservation for Hip Pain Sufferers

Young adults with hip pain and the early onset of arthritis are finding relief through joint preservation. Dr. Javad Parvizi of the Rothman Institute has expertise and takes a special interest in joint preservation procedures.

Joint preservation entails treatment techniques that preserve healthy bone and tissues. Preserving and maintaining your entire hip joint is important if future treatment on the joint is necessary.

Sources of hip pain in young adults can include cartilage tears, impingement of the femur and socket, and dysplasia, which is the lack of full development of the hip joint. Techniques Dr. Parvizi uses to treat these include smoothing the surface of the arthritic joint, cutting and realigning the joint if necessary.
