New Show Spotlights Life in OR

Understandably, patients headed to surgery often have important questions such as: What exactly does my surgery entail? Besides the doctor, who helps during the surgery and what are their roles? Now you can go behind the scenes in the operating room with a Rothman Institute physician to get these and other questions answered.

A new television show, “Real Life in the OR,” now airs on WMCN. The program takes a look at what physicians and patients experience on the day of surgery. A Rothman Institute surgeon is host of the program, and he or she walks the audience through the steps before, during, and after surgery.

Each show features a different patient and different surgical procedure.

“Real Life in the OR takes you inside the operating room while in your living room,” says Dr. Peter Sharkey, orthopaedic surgeon with the Rothman Institute. “This program offers a terrific opportunity for future surgery patients to get a better understanding of what they will experience and what goes on behind the scenes.”

Dr. Sharkey is host of the programs. To view past issues of the show, visit http://www.ssptv.com/shows.php.
