Dr. O’Holleran Teaches Doctors in China
Sports Medicine North’s Dr. James D. O’Holleran spent 10 days in China, sharing American orthopedic techniques with more than 500 doctors and medical students.
Dr. O’Holleran was the only orthopedic surgeon from the United States invited to speak in China at the designated university orthopedic departments. He presented to nearly 500 medical students through 15 lectures on a variety of orthopedic topics, including the latest arthroscopic surgery techniques. In addition, he operated on two patients, performing an ACL replacement surgery and a rotator cuff repair surgery.
"I enjoy sharing our American techniques and methods with doctors in other parts of the world, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn from other surgeons as well," Dr. O’Holleran says.
This is the second opportunity Dr. O’Holleran has had to work with doctors from around the world. In 2007, he was one of three United States surgeons selected to participate in the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine traveling fellowship program, which took him to China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, and Singapore over the course of one month to lecture and provide surgical demonstrations.
