Dr. Marc Friedman, an Arthritis Walk Honoree

Arthritis affects nearly 40 million Americans, leaving adults as well as children’s lifestyles hampered by the joint disease. To help in the fight against arthritis, the Arthritis Foundation held a walk at the Six Flags Magic Mountain on Sunday, June 5, 2011. Involved in that walk as an honoree, was Southern California Orthopedic Institute’s very own Dr. Marc Friedman.

Dr. Friedman was selected as the 2011 Arthritis Walk Magic Mountain Medical Honoree for this year’s event, hosted by the Arthritis Foundation Valley Branch.

“It was amazing to have been included as an honoree this year,” says Dr. Friedman, an arthritis expert that performs approximately 200 knee replacements per year. “Having an opportunity to learn about all the different activities the Arthritis Foundation supports was a unique experience.”

A leader in the fight against arthritis, the Arthritis Foundation works to find new treatment methods, educate the public, and ultimately rid sufferers of their daily pain. Each year, the Arthritis Walk is a key part of the organization’s fundraising efforts, helping to build awareness for a worthy cause.

“Sharing experiences with participants in the walk really illustrated how much arthritis can affect someone’s lifestyle,” says Dr. Friedman. “Educating the public and making them aware about this disease is one of the first steps in finding a cure.”
